Detox Day 14

I’m fresh out of reasons as to why I should be doing this. The bottom line is I need to get down to 280 and I needed something to kick start the weight loss.

I weighed 329.0 – that is 23.2 pounds, I am still on track to reach my goal of 40 pounds lost during this detox.

Yesterday I got up and did Yoga at 10 AM. It was a fire class and so you sweat like a fat man in a plastic sack. I drank tons of water during and even had to leave class once to refill my water bottle because the humidity got up into the 70% with 98 degree temperatures. I’ve never left during one of these 90 minute classes but yesterday I was dying. So thirsty and I had to pee and i still had lots of poses to go.

Yesterday I had some orange juice and almonds for breakfast. A very small bag with sea salt. You aren’t supposed to have nuts on this detox, but I felt like since I was going to do Yoga I needed some protein and almonds are really healthy so I splurged.

Later in the day I a bowl of steamed cauliflower for lunch and carrots for a snack. Then I baked some Alaskan Cod in organic unsalted butter. Just a small amount which is also allowed on this diet. I didn’t choose to use any of it until after the first 10 days. You also are supposed to stay off meat for the first 10 days and drink protein shakes. I did not drink the organic whey protein shakes like I should have.

Then after dinner I had this massive headache and so I went to the store and bought strawberries and bananas. I came back to the house and made a smoothie and I splurged AGAIN by adding literally a tablespoon of coconut that I had in the freezer and maybe 1/4 cup of milk so that it would blend. Oh, and let me not forget that  I can also have raw organic honey and so a large tablespoon of that went into it as well. The headache was not allowing me to think logically but when I was done blending with a banana and lots of strawberries it was possibly the best smoothie I’ve had in the last 6 years! It was better than Frulatti.

So depite the cheating I still lost 2.2 pounds! I’m sure that was because of the yoga and I hope to keep doing yoga every day for the rest of this detox.

Current Weight: 329.0 (23.2 total pounds lost)
Breakfast: Orange Juice and almonds – this was a large OJ
Lunch: Carrots, Cauliflower
Dinner: Alaskan Cod Baked with butter and garlic, fruit smoothie

Detox Day 13: For My Friends and Family

This reason should have been much earlier, but I’m shallow so it took 13 days for me to think up this reason. I definitely want to stay healthy for my parents, my sisters and of course my friends. Being healthy and positive is beneficial for everyone you are around. Who doesn’t like to be around someone that is in great physical shape? They just seem more alive.

I’m actually starting to enjoy various aspects of this diet. Eating baby carrots for breakfast isn’t so bad and an occasional bowl of strawberries or pineapple is actually quite satisfying. I’ve learned to enjoy vegetable again and I know that eating a salad with a little extra regular dressing will be like a gourmet salad since I’ve been eating my salads with oil and balsamic vinegar.

Last night was my biggest meal on this diet and probably my biggest cheat. Erin and I double-dated with Cody and Amy Miller last night and we went to Posados. It is this great Mexican food restaurant and I had baked tilapia, refried beans and mixed vegetables. I think it was layered in butter and the beans were probably filled with salt and who knows what else. Needless to say I got up this morning and I had not lost any weight. But I didn’t gain any either so I was happy about that.

Current Weight: 331.2 (21 total pounds lost)
Breakfast: Pineapple
Lunch: Decaf tall coffee from Starbucks – was not all that good.
Dinner: Tilapia, refried beans, mixed vegetables, lots of guacamole

As far as feeling good, this diet has made me feel the best of any diet I’ve ever been on. Two weeks into this and I’m fine. I’m not lethargic, I don’t have headaches, and I rarely get uncontrollable cravings. Sure, I’m hungry sometimes and I miss food, but i don’t want ice cream or donuts or something sweet and filled with High Fructose Corn Syrup on a daily basis. I miss most food mostly because of it’s convenience.

Detox Day 12: For Fashion Statements

It’s hard to be super cool when you are 70 pounds overweight. Now I’m ony 49 pounds away from my goal. I’ve hit 21 pounds in 11 days. I weighed 331.2 this morning.

I did Yoga last night. Mostly on one foot and when we had to balance on the other foot I just stood there and watched. It was still a great class and I thought I would have lost even more weight because I was killing myself in there.

No time to post food updates, but I will bring that back tomorrow. Mikey, no more 1 AM binge eating! HAHa. I read that comment and thought it was so funny and so random. What are you doing up at that time anyway? Playing midnight Airsoft?

Detox Day 11: For My Joints

Playing sports at 350 is hard on the body and so is lifting weights and last night while lifting weights I noticed that my tendonities in my left elbow was almost gone. I have never mentioned this pain on my website because like many of my injuries I like to apply the “Power of Positive Thinking”. If that crap really worked then I would have a full head of hair and a six pack of abs. I am a VERY positive thinker, but even I know that you just can’t think about things all day, you have to actually do something.

No one really seems to be that thrilled about what I am eating, so I won’t update that anymore, however, I will say that I have lost 19.4 pounds and I am down to 332.8 – in just 10 days people.

Also, this post was delayed because my PC crashed. I had everything backed up except the last 10 purchases I made from iTunes. It sucks that iTunes won’t let you download everything that you’ve already purchased when crap like this happens.

Detox Day 10: For Those That Underestimate Me

“I’ll Show Them!” We all say it, but how many of us actually act on it? It’s like those people on American Idol who think they are stars and clearly they stink.

I am often underestimated. Sometimes when you dream big people think you are ridiculous, however, I’ve come a looong way in my 32 years and I feel like I am just getting started.  This year I’m making huge life changes. I’ve stopped some unnecessary luxuries out of my life, I’m streamlining, I’m making sacrifices today so that I can be a better man tomorrow. Taking care of myself is a big step in that direction.

Special note… those pants that I couldn’t wear just 9 days ago? Well, I’m wearing them comfortably this morning… however, the shirt I chose to wear with them is a little snug. But I felt so motivated after losing 2 more pounds today. I thought since I ate that “big” dinner last night that I would have shown either 0 weight lost or maybe even gained a pound or two.

 

Current Weight: 333.6 (18.6 total pounds lost)
Breakfast: Strawberries
Lunch: Carrots, 100% Fruit Smoothie, small salad
Dinner: large piece of Sea Bass from PF Changs, 2 vegetable dumplings, Steamed Broccoli – best meal I have had in the last 9 days. Shouldn’t have eaten the dumpling, but felt like they were so small I could afford to splurge a tiny bit. Still can’t believe I’ve got 10 days drinking nothing but water.
